"Officer's Armchair Stamped P.marcion Empire Period Early 19th Century "
Officer's armchair in mahogany and mahogany veneer stamped *P.Marcion and numbered in black ink "17882". Square-shaped molded backrest, armrests with cuffs ending in scrolls, connecting pieces carved with flowers. The front legs are baluster-shaped, the back legs are saber-shaped. Armchair sold in white with old-style upholstery in good condition ready to be reupholstered. Shaft and varnish in good condition (small old restorations at the ends of the legs). Work from the Empire period, early 19th century *Pierre-Benoît MARCION, cabinetmaker active between 1798 and 1817 in Paris. He was one of Napoleon I's suppliers. From the Directory period, he ran a workshop and a cabinetmaking shop, rue Neuve-des-Petits-Champs, then rue Helvétius and finally rue Saint-Marc. One of his most important works was the bed of Empress Marie-Louise, which he executed in 1809.
