Pair of cherubs in carved linden wood, reversed (left and right), Louis XIV period, 17th century. The cherubs are depicted with outstretched wings, draped in fabric, their heads turned in opposite directions, and one arm raised. Traces of original gilding and polychromy remain, and the cherubs retain their original wrought iron mounts. (One cherub's wings were replaced in the 19th century.) This pair of cherubs are architectural sculptures from the 17th century, probably originally part of an altarpiece or interior of the period. Louis XIV period, 17th century.
