Walnut Fall-front Cassettone, Veneto, Second Half Of The 17th Century

Impressive walnut fall-front cassettone, also known as a Canteran-bureau, made in the Veneto region during the second half of the 17th century.This large and elegant piece is crafted in solid walnut with refined floral inlays, created through fine carvings filled with light-colored stucco to imitate precious ivory inlay work.
The upper part features a fall-front writing surface that opens to reveal an interior fitted with eight small drawers, all finely inlaid, flanked by two movable side supports.On the exterior, the front appears to have four horizontal drawers, but the top band is actually the hinged fall-front. The three lower drawers are fully functional and spacious.The piece retains its original locks and brass handles, well preserved and harmoniously integrated into the overall design.
Thanks to its proportions and refined craftsmanship, this cassettone is ideal for a historic interior or a distinguished collection.It was restored a few years ago and is in excellent condition, with only minimal signs of age, such as small cracks and minor wood movements, consistent with its period.Upon request, a final waxing treatment can be applied before shipping.
