Gilded And Hand-painted Porcelain Cup With Hunting Scenes, 19th Century
Elegant bell-shaped porcelain cup, mounted on a pedestal and square base, entirely gilded and hand-painted. The body is enriched with two applied masks of bearded faces in classical style, used as handles.
The painted decoration, executed with great attention to naturalistic detail, depicts on one side a hunting scene with riders, ladies and hounds, and on the other a wooded landscape with deer grazing and figures in the background. The colours are vivid and well harmonised with the gilding, which is still largely preserved, despite natural signs of use and light abrasions.
European manufacture, probably Viennese or French, first half of the 19th century.
Height: 26.5 cm
Diameter: 20.5 cm
Condition: overall good, with some wear to the gilding, light abrasions and internal oxidation of the fixing screw.
