"Madonna And Child, Saint Joseph And Saints In Adoration – Venetian School, Late 17th Century"
Oil on canvas depicting a sacred scene of deep devotion, likely an adoration by saints in the presence of the Holy Family. At the center of the composition, the Virgin Mary holds the Infant Jesus on her lap, naked and wrapped in a white cloth. To her right stands Saint Joseph, with a white beard and holding a pastoral staff. Three male figures surround the Holy Family, kneeling in reverent adoration: one is dressed in golden episcopal robes, another appears as a warrior, possibly a knight saint, while the third remains more enigmatic, yet equally absorbed in devotion.
In the background, just visible, are the ox and the donkey—elements that traditionally suggest a Nativity setting. However, the absence of the Magi, particularly the black king, points instead to an adoration by saints.
A work of the Venetian school, probably from the late 17th century, it shows affinities in color and composition with the Veronese tradition.
