Carved And Giltwood Pediment, Northern Italy, Charles X Period, Circa 1820–1830
Carved wooden pediment, likely limewood, with gold leaf and faux wood finish, dating from the Charles X period (circa 1820–1830). The composition is symmetrical and elegant, featuring scrolling foliage, architectural motifs, and a central medallion with a sculpted floral bouquet in relief.
The deep carving and careful execution are typical of decorative work from Northern Italy, particularly the Veneto or Lombardy regions. Originally the upper crest of a mirror frame, it can now be used as an overdoor ornament or decorative wall element.
Overall good condition: some losses to the gilding preparation and two minor missing carved elements, easily restorable.
Dimensions: length 124 cm – maximum height 42 cm.
