Giltwood Console Table With Marble Top – Veneto, Mid 19th Century

Elegant console table in carved and gilt wood, from the Veneto region, dating to the mid 19th century, during the transitional period between Louis-Philippe and Charles X. The piece features rich relief carving, with shaped and scrolling legs joined by a decorative stretcher, adorned with foliate motifs and volutes with strong sculptural impact.
The gold leaf gilding in “oro zecchino” is particularly bright and enhances the depth of the carving, reflecting the Venetian decorative tradition between Baroque taste and 19th century movement.
The top consists of a dark marble slab with reddish veining, an early replacement of the original top, well matched in aesthetic quality and patina. One corner shows an old restoration, not affecting stability or appearance.
Condition overall good and consistent with age, with normal wear and minor losses to the gilding on the lower part due to use over time.
