"Walnut Tondo With Relief Of The Tree Of Life – Italy, 17th Century"
Turned walnut tondo carved from a single block, featuring a rare central relief in stucco depicting the biblical Tree of Life with Adam, Eve and the serpent. This piece, dating to the mid-17th century, has a moulded edge and a central insert that was likely used as a decorative or functional mould. The back bears the inscription "S.A.C.R. 1655".
A highly atmospheric and rare devotional object combining sacred iconography and artisanal craftsmanship. Age-related cracks and stable fractures are present, consistent with its age.
