Signed Eugène Hazart. Large Candelabra With Bouquets. 70 Cm.
Artist: Eugène Hazart
An exceptional pair of large, three-light candelabra in the form of bouquets of flowers resting on a white marble baluster base.
The finely chased bronze mounts display a rich ornamental repertoire typical of the Louis XVI period, with double-scroll handles and acanthus leaves, and garlands of flowers and fruit cascading down the body of the base.
The naturalistic bouquet at the top is composed of tulips and carnations, with the flower calyxes serving as candle holders. The square, molded base is adorned with friezes of pearls and ribbons and signed "Eug. Hazart, Paris."
Eugène Hazart (active from 1850 to 1890), renowned for the exceptional finesse of his chasing, rivaled the great masters of the 18th century.
Based in the heart of the foundry district in Paris, he specialized in creating luxurious furnishings: candelabra, clocks, andirons, and fireplace sets.
Superb condition of the bronzes and marbles.
Beautiful original gilding, retaining a remarkable luster.
Second half of the 19th century.
Dimensions:
Height 70 cm
