Worcester Dragon In Compartments Porcelain Inkwell, C. 1820
English porcelain inkwell produced at Worcester during the Flight, Barr & Barr period. Compact drum form with side pockets and scroll handle, designed to hold quills and writing implements. Richly gilded and finely potted.
Decorated in the celebrated Dragon in Compartments pattern, inspired by Kangxi famille-verte porcelain and long regarded as one of Worcester’s most admired Regency designs.
A “The Flight Collection” label is affixed beneath, confirming provenance from the collection formed by Howard Emerson Flight. Important pieces from this collection were later dispersed at Bonhams and Toovey’s.
A rare early 19th-century writing accessory combining historical provenance and strong decorative impact.

Inside the central cavity there are underglaze firing cracks; they do not extend through and are not visible from the underside even under UV inspection. Wear to gilding along the upper rim. Overpainting visible within one side pocket.
