A rare and beautifully painted porcelain figurine of a flower seller carrying a tray and basket of finely sculpted blossoms. The base is marked with a Ludwigsburg underglaze blue mark. We do not believe it was made by the original Ludwigsburg factory. Rather, we attribute it to Dressel, Kister & Cie, Passau, around 1903. At that time, the company reproduced figures using moulds acquired from the former Höchst manufactory and sometimes applied historic marks, including Ludwigsburg’s, causing later misattribution.
Dressel, Kister & Cie was active from 1840 to 1922, known for Rococo-inspired porcelain figures and high-quality doll heads, supplying major European workshops. The company was later absorbed into the Aelteste Volkstedter porcelain works.
Measurements: Height 15.5 cm
Condition: Neck and arms repainted; overall excellent antique condition.
