Edwardian Sterling Silver Card Tray By Robert Pringle & Sons, London 1904
A finely worked Edwardian sterling silver card tray by Robert Pringle & Sons, hallmarked in London in 1904.
The tray is made in a classic shaped form with a gently scalloped outline and raised border. Rich Rococo Revival decoration covers the surface, with scrolling acanthus leaves, shell motifs and floral sprays arranged around a central cartouche. The finely textured ground creates a pleasing contrast with the polished raised decoration and adds depth to the overall design.
The quality of the chasing and modelling is particularly noteworthy, giving the tray a strong decorative presence while retaining the elegance expected of fine Edwardian silver. The bright silver interior and soft antique patina further enhance its character.
Suitable as a card tray, serving tray or decorative display piece, it combines practical functionality with refined craftsmanship and timeless design.
