Grey Hair Wig Of The Queen And Her Wooden Bauble - France In The Louis XVI Style
19th century in the 18th century style. France. Gentleman's wig made of hair stapled to its wooden stand, numbered 54, and probably dating from the 19th century for the theater. Real hair (not horsehair, given its fineness) in grisaille and Venetian blond, exactly like Marie Antoinette, who gave her name to this very particular color! I was unable to dismantle it, but at the base of the hair, a cotton net frame is visible, the construction and workmanship of which should correspond to the wig designs described in the Encyclopedia of d'Alembert and Diderot in the 18th century. The stand (an old-fashioned hat form) also appears to be 19th century. It would benefit from some styling and polishing. Good overall structural condition. Dimensions: Height 26 cm. Head circumference 56 cm.
