Description

Silver monstrance, 1st standard, in neoclassical style, resting on a pyramidal base finely chiseled with eucharistic symbols: Mystic Lamb, radiant Trinity, vine tendrils and sheaves of wheat.

Baluster shaft decorated with an antique urn, knot adorned with an entwined sheaf of vines, supporting a radiant glory with alternating straight and flamed rays centering a cloud (lunule missing).
Summit cross.

Hallmarks:
– Rooster, 1st standard, Departments (1798-1809)
– Large guarantee 80 (Fontenay-le-Comte, Vendée)
– Goldsmith: Joseph Convert, Lyon (JC lozenge, trefoil and dot)
– Hallmark "ET" on the base.

Height: 51 cm - Weight: 755 g.

Presented in its case. A similar model in vermeil by the same goldsmith is kept at the Church of Saint-Maurice in Épersy (Savoie, ref. IM73000393).

A fine example of provincial liturgical goldsmithing from the Consulate period, with complete Eucharistic iconography.
