Monstrance With Relics Of Saint Marcellin - Early 18th Century
Our monstrance is made of silver-plated copper. Fine work from southern Germany from the late 17th or very early 18th century. The lunula has been brought back. It receives a medallion on which a Roman family scene appears on one. Protected by the Holy Spirit, and undoubtedly echoing the relic presented, it would represent Saint Marcellinus and his family, Martyred in the year 303. The medallion is surrounded by four relics.
On the opposite side, on the back of the main relic, in a delicate and meticulous assembly of golden threads, is honored a relic of Saint Marcellinus, Martyr. surrounded by four relics including those of Saint Bacchus, Saint Prosper and Saint Baptist.
