"Saint John At Calvary - End Of The 16th Century "
Large and elegant carved and polychromed wood sculpture from a Flemish or northern French school from the late 16th century. The finely crafted face is very gentle, almost youthful, with his hands crossed on his chest and his expression turned towards heaven.
It is clearly recognizable as Saint John the Evangelist, the beloved disciple of Christ.
Dimensions: 98 cm by 33 cm wide and 22 cm deep at the base. Condition: used – some polychromy and woodwork missing. Reference 761
