Pair Of Chapel Consoles - Saint Bénilde - 20th Century
Pair of polychrome plaster consoles - mid-20th century.
On a Corinthian-decorated base, there is a frieze with floral decoration of acanthus leaves and pomegranates. At the time, these two consoles bore representations of Saint Bénilde, the healing saint of Puy-de-Dôme (who died in 1862).
Pius XII said of him that he "did common things in an uncommon way."
