Plain Silver Beaker, Parcel-Gilt — German, c. 1780–1810
Plain, slightly tapering cylindrical silver beaker on a narrow foot rim with a gilt interior. The body is entirely smooth and unengraved. The rim is folded outward and defined by a fine double moulding. The foot rim is simply profiled. The slightly conical body widens from the narrow base toward the mouth. The transition between the softly burnished silver exterior and the warmly glowing gilt interior is precisely executed. The surface shows an even, age-appropriate patina with no dents, cracks or later repairs. The mouth is circular and level. No engraving or ornament of any kind — the quality of the piece lies entirely in the purity of its form and the fineness of its material.
Material and technique: Silver 12 loth (= 750/1000), parcel-gilt (interior). Height: 8.3 cm — Diameter at rim: approx. 7.3 cm — Weight: approx. 141 g. Maker's mark: HSN in rectangle. Assay mark: none recorded. Style: Late Baroque / transition to Neoclassicism, German c. 1780–1810. Condition: very good for age.
