Silver Soup Tureen, France, Early 19th Century
A flat-bottomed, circular silver bowl. The neck is accented with fluting. Two side handles with scrollwork are decorated with foliage and four-leaf motifs.
The nearly flat lid is decorated around its rim with a frieze of water leaves and topped with a screw-on knob resting on a corolla of palm leaves.

950/1000 silver. Rooster hallmark. Paris hallmarks (1809–1819).
Master silversmith’s mark stamped on the base and on the reverse of the lid: Jacques Favre, Paris, engraved circa 1800. His hallmark is reproduced on p. 191 of Répertoire des poinçons des fabricants, 1798–1838 by Catherine Arminjon (ISBN: 2-11-081146-3).
