Pair of candlesticks insolid silver from the First Empire period, with neoclassical-inspired decoration. Thebase is engraved with a floral frieze composed of scrolls, small flowers, androsettes. The truncated conical shaft is adorned with finely engraved palmettes. Theupper section features a quadrangular cube embellished with appliedmascarons depicting female heads wearing ancient-style headdresses, rendered asmedallions. The edges of the cube and the base are accented with beaded friezesand stylized Greek motifs. The piece as a whole reflects an archaeological aestheticcharacteristic of early 19th-century decorative styles.
