Antique Tibetan Utilitarian Knife With Pierced Iron Scabbard, Late 19th Century

Genuine Tibetan working knife with pierced and chased iron scabbard, wooden handle, and short single-edged blade.
This is an authentic utilitarian object, made for daily wear and use rather than for ceremonial or decorative purposes.

The cylindrical iron scabbard is hand-worked with pierced decoration featuring a stylised protective beast or dragon motif, a common element in Tibetan folk metalwork. The surface shows honest wear, oxidation, and irregularities consistent with hand forging and long-term use. Rear suspension bar and ring for belt wear.

The handle is carved from dark wood, simply shaped for grip, with a metal ferrule at the blade junction. The blade is broad and functional, showing signs of repeated sharpening and use, as expected on a genuine working knife.

A compact and honest example of Tibetan material culture, dating to the late 19th or very early 20th century.

Total length in scabbard: 24 cm

Condition: Good condition, with expected wear and patina from age and use. Complete and sound.
