Antique Japanese Edo Period Ivory Netsuke Seated Storyteller Or Comic Actor With Clam C19th

A finely carved Edo-period ivory netsuke depicting a seated man, 3.8 cm in height. The figure leans forward in an expressive pose, mouth open as if speaking or performing, suggesting he represents a storyteller or comic actor (rakugo performer). In his right hand he holds a small rounded object, likely a clam, used as a humorous prop.
The robe is decorated with incised foliate motifs, and the overall carving shows excellent character and movement. Traditional himotoshi are present to the reverse and underside.
