Elegant antique Japanese bronze figure of a girl in traditional dress, holding a small double gourd (hisago) in her right hand. The sculpture captures a moment of calm movement, with fine modelling of the face, hair and folds of the kimono.
Signed 誠谷作 (Seiya saku), indicating the workshop of Genryusai Seiya, one of the most renowned bronze artists of the late Meiji period (circa 1880–1910).
Beautiful dark brown patina with subtle reddish highlights.
Height: 27.5 cm
Condition: very good, minor wear consistent with age and handling.
