A rare and heavy large round solid silver platter from the Louis XV period, with a lined rim. The rim is engraved with an alliance of coats of arms surmounted by a Count's coronet. It bears the charge mark (large crowned A) and discharge mark (ox head) for PARIS 1774-80, the guild mark for PARIS 1774 (crowned L), and the mark of the silversmith Claude-Pierre DEVILLE (mark with the initials "CPD" and a crosier), registered in 1769 and endorsed by Edme-Pierre Balzac.
