Eloi Guerin: 18th Century French Solid Silver Round Platter Paris 1753
Artist: Eloi Guerin
Rare round solid silver platter from the mid-18th century, with a rimmed edge. The rim features an applied coat of arms surmounted by a Count's coronet. It bears the charge mark (a crowned A with a palm and laurel) and discharge mark (a boar's head) for Paris 1750-56, the guild mark for Paris 1753 (a crowned N), and the maker's mark of Eloi Guérin (a crowned fleur-de-lis, two grains, his initials "EG," and a sun), registered in 1727. This rare round platter from the mid-18th century is in very good condition and remarkably hallmarked, with a beautiful patina and minor scratches from use. For the discerning collector...
