Extremely rare pair of Louis XV period solid silver Messina candlesticks with octagonal bases, as well as the shafts, knots and sockets. Pair of very fine quality with cast silver bases. Countermark hallmarks of the Sous-Fermier of METZ, Common House hallmarks for METZ 1747-48 (date letter "A" and two stars) and Hallmarks of the Master Goldsmith Jean (Paul) BAUCAIRE (IB Crowned and below a flower) received in c. 1714-15. Extremely rare pair of Louis XV period Messina candlesticks in very good general condition and remarkably hallmarked, micro-scratches of use. For the informed collector ....
