JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868). Samurai Katana. Black patinated copper kashira. Chiseled, patinated, and gilded copper fushi depicting a bamboo forest. Wooden tsuka covered with red-dyed stingray skin and blue silk braid. Chiseled and gilded copper menuki depicting a coiled dragon. Openwork and chiseled iron maru-gata tsuba depicting a dragon with a silver eye. Wooden and slightly grained black lacquer saya. Simple copper habaki. Straight blade finely engraved on one side with a horimono depicting a dragon, regular, straight, and well-defined hamon, tang with one hole, unsigned. Sold with stand. Dimensions: 96 x 8 x 8 cm. Blade length including tang: 87 cm.
