JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868). Samurai Wakizashi. FUSHI and KASHIRA in a matching patinated copper set decorated with a chrysanthemum flowerbed. TSUKA in wood covered with ray skin and green silk braid. MENUKI in chased, patinated, and gilded copper decorated with flowers. KOGAI in patinated and finely chased copper decorated with a shishi on a nanako background. TSUBA maru-gata in stamped, chased, patinated, and gilded copper decorated with cranes, reeds, flowering trees, shells, and waves on a nanako background. SAYA in glossy black lacquered wood (minor damage to the tip). Simple HABAKI in copper decorated with oblique striations. Straight blade, regular, straight, and well-defined hamon, the tang pierced once, unsigned. Sold with stand. Dimensions: 6 x 72.5 x 6 cm. Blade length including tang: 66 cm.
