KABUTO composed of four matte black lacquered wrought-iron plates, with a central crest; the rear plates are openwork with two small hearts pointing upward, reminiscent of the shape of a wild boar’s iris, a symbol of bravery.
SHIKORO (neck guard) with five tiers, made of wrought iron with a glossy black lacquer finish and blue silk braiding; the top tier features a textured copper-colored lacquer.
FUKIGAESHI (small flaps) made of glossy brown-lacquered wrought iron and adorned with Chinese characters.
MABI SA SHI (visor), very short, made of wrought iron with textured copper-colored lacquer matching that on the lower part of the shikoro.
MAEDATE in openwork gilded copper depicting a horizontal diamond inscribed within a circle (possibly the stylized crest of the Matsumae clan).
