JAPAN - Edo Period (1603-1868). Samurai Tanto. FUSHI and KASHIRA in a set of chased, patinated, and gilded copper decorated with horses and flowers on a nanako background (very slight oxidation). TSUKA in wood covered with ray skin and black silk braid. MENUKI in chased and gilded copper. KOZUKA in iron, formerly gilded, chased with stylized vine leaves. TSUBA hamidashi-gata in iron inlaid with stylized silver leaf scrolls. SAYA in wood covered with shagreen. Simple HABAKI in copper covered with a silver leaf decorated with oblique striations. Straight blade, regular, straight, and well-defined hamon, the tang pierced three times, unsigned. Sold with stand. Dimensions: 50 x 5 x 3.5 cm. Blade length with tang: 34.5 cm.
