TAKAMAKURA, neck rest, the trapezoidal and slightly curved base in Tsugaru-Nuri flame lacquer, the woven cushion decorated with stylized floral motifs and held in place by a cord. Dimensions: 17 x 20 x 7 cm. Notes: This type of neck rest is often associated with the world of geishas who used it to avoid flattening their traditional chignon.
