Swiss Baselard Dagger From The 14th-15th Century
Swiss Baselard Dagger, 14th-15th Century.
Rare antique Swiss Baselard dagger, intact and in its original condition, with its original scales.
These scales have been preserved using a special resin to hold them in place and give them added strength.
The Basel dagger undoubtedly originated with Swiss pikemen mercenaries.
It gained a solid reputation at the end of the Middle Ages and during the Renaissance, notably inspiring mercenary troops of the Landsknechts.
Although the Basel dagger was an extremely popular weapon in the Middle Ages, with many variations, this one is probably Swiss.
The dagger features the classic design, the guard intricately decotared
The blade is, once again, in excellent condition and shows numerous signs of use and stamped with a cross.
A truly exceptional set, worthy of a museum!
