Artist: Reuben Ugbine (1956-2021)
Large and pleasing terracotta sculpture dated 1990 depicting a young African woman wearing a turban, which lends her great elegance. The work is signed by Reuben Ugbine (1956-2021), an excellent Nigerian artist whose background can be found online. Born in Ghana to Nigerian parents, he began his studies at Urhobo College in Effierun, Warri. His artistic career began at Auchi Polytechnic, where he graduated and received the "Best Student" award. He later graduated from Yaba College of Technology in Lagos. Initially a teacher from 1980 to 1989, he then devoted himself fully to his art, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Nigeria, Lebanon, Germany, the Netherlands, South Africa, Ghana, and London.
