Dimensions with frame: 95 x 74 cm. Carl Schmitz-Pleis was an artist born in Hennef, Germany, in 1877 and died in 1943. He trained at the Düsseldorf Academy of Fine Arts and exhibited at numerous venues in the city, including the Alte Kunsthalle, the Kunstpalast, and the Kunsthalle. In 1907, he and Walter Ophey founded an artists' collective called "Niederrhein." His works can be seen at the Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf.
