Oil On Canvas Of A Butterfly By Marcel Recher, Alsatian Painter (1926 - 2016)
Artist: Marcel Recher
An important oil on canvas by Marcel Recher depicting a yellow butterfly on a textured beige background. This work demonstrates his appreciation for texture and structured construction to materialize his subject. The butterfly is highlighted both by its color and by the strong presence of the line, sharp, thick, yet also subtle, almost detaching the insect from the canvas. This seemingly figurative work, whose subject is merely a pretext to highlight the artist's attachment to abstraction, the driving force of his creative force from the 1960s to the 1980s. This canvas, one of the former masterpieces of the artist's personal collection, which he never wanted to part with, bears on the back the customs clearance and transport stamps, in red ink, bearing witness to a monumental exhibition attended by Marcel Recher in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Dimensions: Height 146 cm. Width 114 cm. Dimensions with frame: Height 152.5 cm. Width 120.4 cm. Modern American box frame.
