Oil portrait of a young brunette girl, 3/4 length. She has a bun on her hair, a few short strands surround her face. She wears golden hoop earrings. Her face is soft, she looks straight ahead, her chin points slightly downwards. She wears a white dress revealing her left shoulder and revealing the beginning of her chest. The light gray background creates a slight contrast with the woman, creating a tender and intimate atmosphere.

Benner Emmanuel-Michel, (1873-1965) known as Many, so that he is not confused with his uncle Emmanuel Benner, also an artist. Trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, a student of Jean Jacques Henner, Benjamin Constant and Lefebvre. Second Grand Prix de Rome in 1894 and 1898, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1891, and was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1897, at the Musée des Beaux Arts in Paris, the Maison d'Art Alsacienne in Strasbourg, the Galerie Aktuarius and the Société des Amis des Arts in Mulhouse. A specialist in nudes and portraits, he also produced landscapes, notably of Italy and Capri, the cradle of his maternal family. He represents the fourth generation of a dynasty of artists who have left their mark on the fine arts in France and Alsace. Many Benner was also curator for life of the Musée National Jean-Jacques Henner Paris, named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1925.
