Artist: Auguste Boehinger
An artist from Alsace, born on June 14, 1913, in Mulhouse, he died in Strasbourg on September 29, 1974. He lived in Mulhouse and had his studio on Rue des Abeilles. He first studied at the School of Professional Art of the Industrial Society of Mulhouse, then went on to the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He also studied at the School of Fine Arts and Applied Arts in Nancy under the guidance of Victor Prouvé and Becmeur. For more than twenty years, he served as director of the Mulhouse School of Fine Arts, a position in which he was succeeded by Pierre Miot.
He painted primarily in oils, but he also produced oil pastels, pen-and-ink drawings, and a few rare engravings.
Landscapes were his favorite subject, though he also painted flowers, cats, nudes, figures, and still lifes.
