François-Xavier Krugler was born in 1864 in Schweighouse and died in 1941 in Brunstatt. Initially the manager of a painting company, he devoted himself to his personal painting practice from 1914 onwards. A self-taught artist, he was particularly known for his portraits. Some of his paintings are exhibited at the Military Museum of Lyon.
