The piece bears the impressed mark of Fabbrica M. Guggenheim Venezia, a manufactory active in Venice at the end of the 19th century, known for its decorative castings inspired by the medieval and Renaissance repertoire.
This type of dragon often appeared as an ornamental element on mantelpieces, desk accessories (paperweights, pen holders), or object mounts.
