"Georges Castaing (1895-1971) Port Of Saint-jean De Luz, Basque Country. Pau, Pmdupuy, Floutier"
Beautiful painting by Georges Castaing depicting tugboats in the port of Saint-Jean de Luz, signed and located lower left. Size of the painting alone without frame 33x41cm. This is therefore a beautiful post-impressionist composition by Georges Castaing who paints here the port of Saint-Jean de Luz in the Basque Country animated by tugboats and boats, as well as many characters on the quays. The painter uses his usual touch and palette, close to that of other Basque painters such as Floutier, Bibal or Almès. Georges Castaing was born in Villeneuve sur Lot, student of the École des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux, He was a student of Lucien Jonas and Paul Michel Dupuy. He exhibited in Paris, from 1930 to 1968 at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, from 1946 at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he became a member. He distinguished himself with his luminous landscapes, his scenes of daily life and his attachment to the Béarn and Basque terroir which will be the majority of his production. Do not confuse with René Marie Castaing another painter from the southwest. This canvas has been restored in 3 places, otherwise it has been cleaned, it is delivered without a frame even if I will give an old rod to protect it, but in poor condition. Work guaranteed authentic
