South Tunisia - Djerba (?)
Bakhnoug or Long rectangular shawl hand-woven in black wool and intended to cover the shoulders or the head of Berber women in southern Tunisia. Fine manual weaving of wool with woven decoration of Islamic geometric patterns. Knotted wool fringes at the ends. Nothing to do with contemporary productions much thicker, very fine weave, tight and soft to the touch. A dozen tiny moth holes visible only through transparency, the only defect to note. Very good condition of color and conservation.
Dimensions: 195 cm x 128 cm and 5 cm of fringes
