Large quilted quilt in pastel blue silk taffeta from a castle in the Montpellier region and dating from the Louis XV period. Padded and very light quilt, finely stitched with running stitch in blue thread. The quilting draws small diamonds highlighted on the edge of the bed top with an arabesque frieze. The reverse is a light brown glazed linen buckram revealing the blue threads of the stitching. It is quite rare to find 18th century quilts unaltered and in their original condition. Some micro silk patches and a few small discreet traces. No holes. Beautiful condition considering its age.
Dimensions: Approximately 241 cm x 213 cm. The top measures 145 cm wide by 173 cm long, with 45 cm flaps on three sides.
