Splendid fabric panel published in 1993 by Nicholas Herbert, a designer renowned for his historically and naturally inspired motifs. This fabric, entitled "Les Pêcheurs," perfectly illustrates the art of narrative textiles, halfway between tapestry and revisited toile de Jouy. T
he design is organized into delicately outlined medallions, each containing a rural scene: elegantly dressed figures fishing in a pastoral landscape adorned with ruins, dense foliage, and tranquil rivers.
These picturesque vignettes are surrounded by a lush network of floral scrolls, stylized pine cones, garlands of vegetation, and topped with pairs of tropical birds perched among the flowers.
The whole is printed on a luminous ivory background that highlights a palette of fresh and harmonious tones: leafy greens, golden yellows, soft lavenders, and touches of blue-gray bring depth and refinement.
The rich yet balanced design evokes the great textile designs of the 18th century while offering a contemporary touch.
This panel, with its balanced composition and generous dimensions, can be used as a door, wall hanging, headboard covering, or even stretched in a wood frame.
It will bring elegance, softness and a touch of bucolic escape to any classic or chic country interior.
Very good general condition - fresh colors - soft fabric and ready to use.
