Champagne Satin Reception Dress, Edwardian Period - England Circa 1900
Circa 1900 England Beautiful champagne silk satin ceremony or wedding dress dating from the Edwardian period in England and designed by Madame Ernest in Leeds. Typical of the S-shaped silhouette of the Belle Epoque, this dress is in two parts, with a boned, fitted bodice closed in front with a crossed jabot and ruffled in silk crepe, with a repeat of the puffed sleeves. The matching skirt is hooked on the back with a pouff volume with a tie allowing it to be raised. At the bottom of the skirt, satin slits with muslin ruffles. The bodice is faced with embroidered appliqués of sequins and glass beads with rows of iridescent drops on the plastron, the bottom of the sleeves and the belt. Fully lined with silk taffeta in the same color. Note the tiny little stains on the skirt, the silk satin and muslin not being ruffled. No major flaws. Beautiful condition of color and preservation. Dimensions: Equivalent size 34-35 France. Height front 136 cm, height back 160 cm, shoulders 32 cm, sleeves 35 cm, waist 66 cm, chest 81. Skirt bottom 370 cm.
