Woven Silk Fichu With Lace Decor - France Or Russia Circa 1865
Circa 1865 France or Russia Precious kerchief in very fine silk woven with a lace decoration evoking Chantilly which was very fashionable under the Second French Empire. Woven kerchief with quarter edging on a copper-brown background with a large central medallion loaded with seeds. Four large natural bouquets are arranged in the corners on a background with a black Chantilly lace effect. Hand-hemmed on two sides. Possible Russian manufacturer who have many kerchiefs of this type in their documentation. Note a few pulled threads and small needle holes which do not call into question the solidity of this shawl. No holes or stains. Good condition. Dimensions: 88 cm x 86 cm.
