Late 16th - early 17th century Italy Precious Italian Chasuble complete back and front dating from the end of the 16th century. Rich cut and loop chiselled velvet in a shades of mottled green, blue-green and yellow-green. Repetitive and inclined decoration of bouquets of pomegranates with hooked finials of several period sewn panels, some of which present their original edge. Similar to the velvets of the Museo del Tessuto in Prato in Italy or the Museum of Fabrics in Lyon which present some fragments of very similar models. Possible production of Florence (?). Fully lined with thick hemp consolidating the velor which has rare threadbare parts. Very good general condition of color and conservation considering its age.
