Yastik, A Large Pillowcase - Morocco, Circa 1920–1950

A long rectangular pillowcase, called a Yastik, laid flat before the seams are sewn, from the Moroccan Atlas Mountains. The front is woven from multicolored wool on a cochineal-red background featuring an interlocking diamond pattern in the Arabo-Andalusian style. The reverse side is woven with a random striped pattern on a handloom. Can be used as wall decor or as a cushion cover to be sewn; no flaws. Very good condition in terms of color and preservation.
Dimensions: 192 cm x 51 cm. Folded in half to make a 96 cm x 51 cm cushion.
