A Persian Embroidered Doily On Cotton Percale - Persia, Iran, Early 20th Century
Early 20th Century, Persia. A lovely and unusual white cotton percale doily or cushion cover with Persian or Iranian embroidery, dating from the early 20th century. The embroidery is skillfully and finely drawn thread work. The design features a large, stylized central medallion with box borders and floral motifs, highlighted by pleated ruffles on all four sides. The reverse is unlined and does not have a cover. The piece is clean and has been cleaned, with three or four tiny rust spots and no holes. It is in very good condition. Dimensions: 70 cm x 64 cm
