Circa 1790 France Beautiful waistcoat front in sky blue and cream chiselled brocaded velvet satin dating from the end of the Louis XVI period. Short square cut vest, in brocade satin with full eight buttons. Small officer collar with turned-down panels and two patch pocket tabs. Sky blue satin background decorated with twigs in a network of cream chased velvet leaves. Remarkable lining in cream plush twill cotton fustian. Presence of border edges. Light dust, but remarkable state of conservation. Piece to be framed or reassembly of the back required. Dimensions: 53 cm high by 27 cm wide, each side.
