Art Deco Jacquard Woven Silk Table Mat France Circa 1930
Circa 1920-1940 France Spectacular Art Deco table rug in silk lampas woven on a Jacquard loom and dating from the Art Deco period. Fantasy design with a large central rosette loaded with imaginary flowers including large yellow sunflowers! The weave is fluid with a cherry red satin background. Tablecloth hemmed on two sides, the other two sides being finished with end-of-length selvedges. Here the lampas is a mixture of silk and artificial fibers, an avant-garde technique in the 1930s. A few micro halos, a tiny scratched and repaired area in the white center (2cm x 1 cm), the only defect to note , otherwise clean and unblemished. Very good state. Dimensions: 135cm x 133cm
